Haere mai ki te Kura o Mangapapa! Welcome to Mangapapa School!
I am Paul Sadler, the proud and privileged Principal of Mangapapa School.
Mangapapa School has been operating and inspiring for over 120 years. While not the oldest school in Tūranganui-a-Kiwa/Gisborne, it has certainly built the biggest and best reputation—one that has been earned through dedication, not simply inherited.
At Mangapapa School, we believe teaching and learning for our Mangapapa Kids (MKids) is about providing a rich curriculum—our Curriculum Awa—that offers explicit learning opportunities while promoting hauora, focusing on the development of the whole learner. We understand that every MKid is an individual who will flourish in their own unique way. It is essential to recognise, build on, and celebrate our learners’ passions, interests, abilities, and successes. We want every MKid to experience their piece of the Mangapapa School Success Pie.
A Mangapapa School Curriculum Awa, focused on developing the whole child, supports our MKids’ hauora and helps them achieve success in learning and in life.
Mangapapa School boasts some of the best teaching and learning spaces available. An effective teaching and learning space is one that offers a range of different teaching and learning zones, rather than the traditional ‘one size fits all’ approach, where most students do the same thing at the same time. As you know, our children have diverse interests, passions, learning styles, and needs. Mangapapa’s new teaching and learning spaces accommodate this variability among learners with varied room shapes, different learning zones, and breakout spaces. Variety is essential to effective teaching and learning, and our Mangapapa teaching and learning spaces provide just that.
At Mangapapa, we believe in developing strong connections between home and school so that we are working together to create the most effective pathways for learning and well-being for all our MKids.
Our aspiration is that Mahi Tahi (Collaboration) is ongoing throughout the year. Through ongoing Mahi Tahi, our intent is to build educationally powerful home and school partnerships, focused on our MKids’ learning progress, achievement, and success.
Our commitment remains unwavering: to provide the very best for our MKids, because they deserve nothing less. We look forward to navigating your child’s—our MKid’s—life and learning journey together.
Together, we will REACH for the stars, where learning has no limits!
